Morning all

Not really got all thet much to say…..so here it is.

On saturday i bought a monster piece of meat,8.3 kilograms of topside to be precise and this is what i did with most of it…..

im gonna eat you all up yeah…….those green things are a few olives which im experimenting with.

On sunday i made a toybox but have not taken any pictures yet,

this is blondies first and totally independent attempt at cabinet making…i think its quite good and shows a distinct vision  even if the execution leaves a little to be desired.

and cassy the spaz cat getting into my draws and attempting to stop me going to work this morning……..

Have a greatday all

  1. Just make sure the pieces don’t touch each other. It can cause problems with the pieces. Looks good even though!
The blonde budding carpenter has done a good job – watch this space..

    • space is a little tight but it is carefully spaced……at the begining it touches in one or two spots but after about 24 hrs its shrunk considerably and gets respaced to eliminate any wet spots……..im impressed with blondie as she did that all on her own …no help and no prompting………now im gonna prompt her to try something else………..

  2. Awesome! My Littleman has that as a project for next term. They have to make their own biltong. I’ve downloaded a few “how to” info pages. Any advice from your experience?

    • do you have a biltong maker?…………..keep it simple…….one packet pickling spice…one packet corriander…P & P refill……and a little black peppercorn….saok for a short while in white vinigar before spicing..use good quality meat…topside,silverside,,,,avoid to much fat…..thats about it really……

  3. ok……any large box will do………….a wooden packging crate works well……..cover wityh a net curtain to keep out insects……..put a globe inside…..i recomend 60w ….100w can also be used if not too close to the meat…..this can stay on permanetly……..a fan is good but not mandatory…..it jsut takes longer without and the 100w is good in this case ….a computer fan works well and can be left on permanently……….hairdryer or hairdryer motor works well (not on hot)………but will need to be on a timer as the hairdryer will burn out if left on permanently…….i recommend keeping the hairdryer motor on for 15 min per hour……or on 15 min off 30 min on 15 min off 30 min………..
